DialSafe Pro - Review

Bottom Line: A free app that could save a life.

If you would like to download DialSafe Pro (Free, iPad/iPhone) please use the links provided. Thanks for your support!

We all love apps that help teach our kids about the ABCs, history, science or any number of other subjects important to their education, but there are also apps that assist parents with something even more important: their safety.

Screen shot 2011-09-21 at 7.08.09 PM DialSafe Pro is one of those apps and it helps children learn how to use a phone and dial important numbers, such as 911 and any other numbers programmed by parents. The parent can also add three audio answers, so that when the child dials the number correctly, they hear who they called answer the phone!

The app can support numbers from Australia, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. There is also a setting to change the appearance of the phone from "fun" to "real."

DialSafe Pro, developed by Little Bit Studio, has five main options: learn, practice, challenge, simulator and games.

Learn is a set of three helpful tutorials with valuable info about phones: what is a phone, 9-1-1 and what to do when a stranger calls. Practice mode has an operator guide the child through dialing their home number and 9-1-1. Challenge mode tests to see if the child can dial the numbers by themselves, and the operator tells them if they’ve touched the wrong digit.

Simulator lets them try to dial the numbers themselves and the games section includes a memory game for the home number, a memory game of random numbers and a funny buttons game that just lets them press away on a toy-looking phone.

Lily was interested enough to yell "Please let me dial the phone!" as I was trying to show her how to use the app.

DialSafe Pro could be a life-saver, is extremely well-done and is free. It easily becomes just the 15th app we've given five stars.
