Accessing Facebook and E-mail With Voice

A discussion on our Facebook Fan Page, resulted in a couple ideas for accessing Facebook or E-mail by Voice on an iPad.

I have an adult son who has CP, and would like to know of any of the best apps for being able to access Facebook and email by talking instead of typing and being able to have Emails and Facebook read to him. He is able to speak clearly, but has low reading skills and poor fine motor skills, so he can't type efficiently. It would be nice to be able to do all of this directly from Facebook without having to copy/paste from another app. That's too complicated for him.
Thanks!! He has access to an iPad, so he need apps for that."

He just needs to touch the microphone picture that shows up next to the keyboard, talk and then touch the microphone again. I tried it and it was fairly accurate even with background noise and some umms and errs lol. Here is a link to some more information about using it - http://speechrecsolutions.com/ipad_speechrecognition.html

Dragon Dictation by Nuance Communications

From iTunes:
"Dragon Dictation is an easy-to-use voice recognition application powered by Dragon® NaturallySpeaking® that allows you to easily speak and instantly see your text or email messages. In fact, it’s up to five (5) times faster than typing on the keyboard.

With Dragon Dictation you can also dictate status updates directly to your Social Networking applications (Facebook and Twitter) or send notes and reminders to yourself….all using your voice.  So when you’re on-the-go, stop typing and start speaking – from short text messages to longer email messages, and anything in between."

Heather S. uses the microphone button all the time to have the phone or iPad type for her!
