Top Apps for Potty Time

We have been having a discussion on our Facebook Fan Page twice a day. Eva had a question about apps for potty time. The following is the list of apps that were recommended by our readers, in no particular order.

Eva wrote: My son is 3 years old. Any potty time apps that you would recommend?

See Me Go Potty English by AvaKid Productions

Janet H. stated on our Facebook page: "I strongly recommend the Avakid one! It's called See Me Go Potty. It lets you make the girl or the boy look like your child, right down to skin tone, length and color of hair, face shape, and even lets you write your child's name on the t-shirt. It's very simple, as the child follows a sing-song series of steps. Some of my students verbalized the whole routine: "Walk, walk, walk to the bathroom. Pants down. Sit down on the toilet. Go pee-pee. (You see the toilet turning yellow!) Stand up. Pants up. Flush. Wash hands. I did it!"

You can pause the iPAD after each step. I had one boy with autism pee immediately for the first time after watching it once! Something to consider, though...with a boy, it shows them sitting down, rather than standing up. Also, it has a "poo-poo" choice, as well as an "Uh-oh, accident" sequence where the floor under the child becomes a yellow puddle. I love it!"

From iTunes:
"How it works
1. Use a simple menu to create a cartoon avatar that physically resembles your child/children.
2. Let your child repeatedly play the Go Potty narrative showing him/herself successfully complete the whole process of using the potty step by step.
3. Show your child the Accident Scene narrative to teach what an “accident” is.

You’ll be hearing “I did it!” in no time."

Potty Time with Elmo by Sesame Street

Greta stated on our Facebook page: "I've used the Elmo potty time app. It has catchy songs, an interactive story, and a puzzle component. My son still loves to play with it even though he's already fully potty trained"

From iTunes: "The Potty Time with Elmo app will engage, encourage, and delight even the youngest kids. Learn the basics of potty use by listening to the story and interacting with it. Wait for the giggles to start! Tap around to hear fun sounds and Elmo’s encouraging words. Tap Elmo’s radio to hear catchy potty-time songs and sing along. Find stickers to collect on every story screen and add them to the sticker book. And track potty progress with the Sticker Reward Chart."

Heather's parents potty trained her by giving her a Life Saver each time she successfully used the potty - until she choked on one.  Heather would love to still earn Life Savers.
