Good Free App of The Day - Little Writer

Little Writer - The tracing app for kids by Innovative Mobile Apps

Once my students master the bubble letters on ABC 123 Writing Practice, I move to this FREE app, where users have to drag an object through the letter. This helps to develop being more fluid with writing.

If you would like to download this free app, please support Smart Apps for Special Needs by using our link:

Free (iPad and iPhone)

There are external links to more apps by this developer under a "More Apps" button on the main screen and links to rate app and to the developer's website in the settings.

You can also start with the full version, which adds 4 more sections:
ABC - Phonic Sounds
abc - Phonic Sounds
Letters - A is for
Letters - a is for

You can download the full version here to add on the sounds sections, but the free version has all the writing things you need!  The app is so wonderful that I upgraded over time.

$1.99 (iPad and iPhone)

This app is absolutely wonderful for learning to write.  The kids have to drag an animal, such as a giraffe, to pick up food, like an apple!  It helps a child become more fluid with writing, because they cannot let go of that circle or they have to start over.

This app also introduces students to the standard lined primary writing paper, with the letters and numbers are all shown on three lines.

This app is highly customizable!  Add in recordings for different letters and numbers.  There are additional letters that can be turned on, such as letters that are used in different languages with a variety of markings.  The user can even add in words with pictures, even on the free version!  In the settings for the words, you can choose to do all capitals, all lowercase, or a mixture based on the way the word is entered.

The sounds are all customizable, too, including the success sounds that are played after a child completes a task.

I love the ability to customize this app, but there is so much greatness even before customizing!  I really enjoy using this app with kids.

From iTunes:

✔ ABC uppercase letters
✔ abc lowercase letters
✔ Numbers 1 to 10
✔ 20 basic shapes including lines, circles, rectangles and more
✔ Dozens of 3 and 4 letter words to make practice more enjoyable and interesting
✔ Ability to add an unlimited number of your own words and pictures for maximum enjoyment and variety
✔ Additional letters for foreign language characters. Just go to settings to turn additional characters on and record their sound"

Heather S. has many writing apps and is always looking for more!
