FREE Red Cross First Aid App

Do you know what to do for a broken arm?  How to treat a burn?  How to respond to an unconscious person or a diabetic emergency?  If you answered no to any of these questions you definitely need to download this app.  Even if you answered yes, I urge you to download it to brush up on your skills.  You never know when you may need them.

If you would like to download First Aid by American Red Cross (Free, iPhone/iPad 2x), please support Smart Apps for Special Needs by clicking on the link below:

There are a number of external links, all to Red Cross webpages, to find out more information, find a nearby course, and information on how to volunteer with Red Cross etc.

Red Cross has an amazing first aid app.  I have investigated the Australian version, and it looks like the American version is pretty much the same.  I did learn something new though - we (in Australia) are taught to cool a burn under cold water for 20 minutes, while Americans are taught to do it for 10 minutes!

There are sections in the app to help you learn, prepare, and test yourself.  There is also a handy emergency section.  In this section, you choose the type of emergency and the app gives you simple, but comprehensive, instructions on how to treat the injured person.  The emergency section for burns even gives you a button to press to start a 20 minute (or 10 depending on where you are!) timer so you don't have to keep track of the time yourself.  Anywhere the emergency section tells you to call Emergency, there is a button to allow you to do this automatically. (This automatic calling would be unavailable if using the app in 2x mode on an iPad.)

Odd Socks Mummy firmly believes that all parents should HAVE to do a first aid course.
