Featured App: Dot Connector - practice counting in a fun connect the dots app

Rachel recently posted about using apps to reward good behavior, so I want to share with you one of my students' favorite apps to earn time on!

Does your child like dot-to-dot activities? Do you have a child that needs practice with counting and sequencing numbers? My students do!  Dot Collector is our go-to reward app when my 1st grade group has a wonderful session and completes all work on time. This is a fun and easy dot-to-dot game that is separated into categories of pictures.

If you would like to download Dot Connector ($0.99, iPad/iPhone), please support Smart Apps for Special Needs by using our link:

The developer, Ellie's Games, has many fun and simple games that were made with his daughter in mind. Dot Connector contains 60 different puzzles in six different categories. Sports and animals are my students' favorite categories, but children will also enjoy boats, cars, flowers and planes.

After a category is chosen, a level must be chosen. A level begins with a number 1 dot appearing. The next number appears each time a dot is tapped. Drag or tap the numbers sequentially to complete the picture. My 1st grade group makes this a team event by the children all counting together as the player moves through the numbers. I love seeing their excitement about this app and what will appear.

For only $0.99, this is a great app for young children that are working on counting and number recognition. Completing a level places a star on that level, but a child can play again and again. I recommend checking out this app for young children.

From iTunes:
Connect-the-Bubbles to complete over 50 different puzzles! With cheerful music and no ads this is a magical addition to Ellie's Games.

In Dot Connector kids are able to choose from a vast selection of categories. From animals to cars to boats and more! Once this selection is made there is a variety of colored levels to choose from. At the start the first number melodically appears and as soon as it is touched a second appears and so on. The numbers can either be tapped or dragged to one another. If the wrong selection is made the next number does not appear. Visually appealing as you go from number to number in sequential order until finally a silhouette appears. Dot Connector is great for eye-hand coordination along with improving cognitive skills.
