Happy to Survive the Day

I've seen this meme all over Pinterest and my Facebook wall. Can you relate? I just survived my now 6 year old's birthday weekend and am giving myself a pep talk as my daughter's birthday approaches -- tomorrow!  Every year I know the first week of March will be busy with the kids' birthdays and I always finish happy that I survived. There are plenty of days where we know it's going to be busy with doctor's appointments, therapy, or new routines. Then, there are the days that take us by surprise with a developmental setback, illness, or a crass comment that cuts us to the quick. I have come to the conclusion that it is perfectly fine to reach the end of the day and just feel happy to have survived.

Have you had a day where you were just happy to survive? I had a friend ask recently if she was a bad mom for admitting her kids were driving her nuts. Everyone let her know that we've all been there. So share any stories of being happy to get through the day in the comments' section below to let others know that they aren't alone.

Rachel H's soon to be 8 year old is having a sleepover with four friends next weekend. She will be happy they all survive with any semblance of sanity.
