Attention Teachers and Therapists: Remind 101 app offers safe and FREE text messaging

I've written about my love for the Remind 101 app before in my post 10 Apps to Make a Busy SLP's Life A Little Easier, but a recent update has made a great app even better. Remind 101 is a one way text messaging app that allows you to send information and reminders to students and parents. All phone numbers are kept private and you can create as many groups as you want. Schedule texts ahead of time to be sent out at a later date or send them out immediately. This is a one way messaging system so students and parents cannot reply back. The most recent update has made this app even more powerful by allowing you to attach photos, assignments and even presentations to the text message.

I discovered the Remind 101 app on Pinterest over this past summer and thought it would be a perfect way to communicate cancellations to my caseload without having to make a bunch of phone calls. It works beautifully, but with the new "attach" feature it is capable of so much more. I can send out suggestions for at home practice, information about parent in-service opportunities, pictures of fun craft projects and more.

It's easy to sign up for Remind 101 through text, but if a parent prefers to get reminders through email they can sign up that way too. You can create as many groups as you want. I have my caseload separated by grade level.

What could you do with Remind 101 in your classroom or practice? We'd love to hear your ideas. Please add them in the comments below.

Check out this video all about the new "Attach" feature.

Sarah was so glad she had this app to quickly cancel therapy when her own children came down with the stomach flu last week.
