Peekaboo People lets kids have fun with characters from Busytown

Peekaboo, I see you! The first game most babies play is peekaboo. There is something about that surprise of who's hiding behind those hands that elicits young kids' giggles. Night & Day Studios, Inc has a whole series of Peekaboo apps and I am so excited they have one with the characters of one of my all time favorite children's book series in Peekaboo People starring Richard Scarry's Busytown! Kids will be delighted to see who is hiding behind the elevator doors in this adorably fun app.

Even the youngest iPad users will have a blast tapping on the elevator doors in Peekaboo People to see who is waiting inside. Before the doors open, kids can hear various sounds coming from behind the doors allowing them to guess who will show up next. After greeting the surprise guest, kids simply tap the screen again to close the doors and wait for the next character.

Kids will meet a policeman, baker, dancer and other characters from Busytown. With audio narration and the character's profession written on the screen children can learn and practice vocabulary while playing peekaboo.  Both auditory and visual learners can benefit from this simple to play game.

In regular play, after all thirteen characters have ridden up the elevator everyone rides down together. They say goodnight and then march out of the office building. There is also the option to play the game in a loop for continuous game play.

Parents have the options to have either a child or an adult voice, or to turn off the speaking all together. This gives children the opportunity to learn in whichever way best engages the child. Early readers can practice reading for themselves, while pre-readers and auditory learners can have the words pronounced by an adorable 4 year old narrator or a more precise adult voice.

If you are looking for a cute, engaging app for your child that loves to play peekaboo, check out Peekaboo People starring Richard Scarry's Busytown. Kids will have fun while learning about different community helpers and guessing who will pop out of the elevator next.

Toddlers will love playing peekaboo with these busy worker-bees, as they familiarize themselves with the names, sounds, and actions of each profession. Preschoolers and kindergarteners will have fun trying to guess who will appear next when the doors open, work on spelling, and discuss who they want to be when they grow up.

Children across the world have loved Richard Scarry’s books since they were first published in the 1960’s. Busytown’s magic is rooted in its ability to explain how things work and open up the adult world to kids— in a way they can relate to and understand. Here in Peekaboo People, Scarry’s characters come to life to teach your child about a variety of professions. Staying true to the artistic style of Busytown these animated characters were hand-drawn and colored based off Scarry’s original illustrations.
