Phonics and Reading With McGuffey I has gone FREE! The developer has added a note that it is free until updates are released, and we have no idea how long until that happens!

This app is designed to teach kids how to read using the McGuffey Primer textbook, which is a systematic approach to phonics. It's not widely used in schools today, but this app has a lot of features that might benefit any child learning to read.

To take advantage of this BIG sale, please support and use our download button (iPad/iPhone, currently FREE, regularly $19.99):

Screen Shot 2014-07-19 at 7.42.46 PMMany families still use McGuffey readers; in the States it's especially popular with homeschooling families. For those who are using the series, this app provides another way to present the readers. It's a systematic app, matching the readers, which is good for kids just learning to read. The app starts simply, by allowing the users to tap the letters and hear the sounds. And friendly Nick the Narwhal helps reinforce letter sounds.
Screen Shot 2014-07-19 at 7.45.49 PMThis app is definitely worth a download while it's free, to see if it meets the needs of your beginning readers! One section in most lessons allows the user to build words and combine sounds in a free-play manner. This is reminiscent of the Montessori method, and is a great way to let any learner work on understanding how sounds blend together.

But it is not going to stay free for long, so click and download right away. In fact, if you're still reading this, you may have missed the sale, so click that button now!

If you missed it, check out the always-free Lite version!
