Brand new Toca Boca app is spooky fun just in time for Halloween!

Toca Boo was released today, and like all Toca Boca apps, it's great for open-ended play and language exploration. I think Toca Boo may be my favorite Toca Boca app yet! Of course, I appreciate the ease of my lesson planning for next week's speech therapy (Toca Boo features heavily in my activities). But even for beyond Halloween, Toca Boo offers creative fun for kids (and adults!) of all ages.
The parent section on Toca Boo has a great explanation of app development and purpose, and it also explains game play. A little girl is avoiding bedtime by sneaking around the house to scare her family with well-timed boos.

We loved experimenting with how to get the biggest scare, and my ten year old especially loved feeding Bonnie the ghost some peppers, plums or soda to add a creative element to each boo. Though he also wanted to earn points for how big the scares were, I appreciated that game play was open-ended and ungraded. Even when Bonnie gets "caught" by a flashlight, the game is not over. This is consistent with all of Toca Boca gameplay and a real strength.

I paid full price for this brand-new app to be able to use it this week in speech therapy. Kids can follow directions, tell me where Bonnie is hiding or who Bonnie should scare, describe the scene, sequence, and so much more! At just $2.99, it's well worth the price for so much fun and learning potential.

To download Toca Boo and help little Bonnie scare the world, please support Smart Apps For Special Needs and use our download button (iPad/iPhone, $2.99):

Did I scare you!? My name is Bonnie and my family loves to spook! Do you want to scare them back? Follow me and I'll show you how!

Float around the house and look for the family. Hide under tables, behind curtains or even duvets. Search the rooms but stay away from the light or else you'll be seen. Rattle things, turn on the kettle and make the characters nervous! Can you hear their heartbeat? Great, it’s time to BOO!

Turn on the disco music and dance, munch on peppers in the kitchen for an extra hot scare, enjoy being invisible and find all the different hiding places - even the toilet!

The simple and beautiful design will easily guide you through the world of Toca Boo. Fall in love with the 6 different characters and explore all the details of the big, mysterious house.
