Celebrate New Years when you want with Netflix show

The staff at Smart Apps for Kids was recently discussing how we planned to spend new years. A few of us allow our kids to stay up until midnight -- a once a year bonus. Others plan to end the celebration a bit earlier. Living in Texas my whole life, we always celebrated the big countdown with Dick Clark in New York City on TV at 11pm Central Time when I was a child. Well, this year, Netflix is working with parents by providing a show they can stream at anytime of the night to celebrate the new year with King Julien from Madagascar.

For the first time, King Julien will host his very own kid-sized countdown “special” on Netflix that families can use to ring in 2015 whenever they choose to celebrate. It’s three minutes of high-energy, music-filled fun that lets kids celebrate the New Year no matter the time of day. The countdown will be available in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, UK, Ireland, the Nordics, the Netherlands and France beginning on Dec. 29th at Netflix.com/KingJulien
