Six Quick FREE holiday activities for last-minute planning!

Teachers and speech-language pathologists in the school know that the last few days before winter break can be hard to get work done. But taking some of that excitement and channeling it into themed activities sometimes helps things go more smoothly. Here are a few activities I found that are quick to put together for just a few more centers or therapy activities to close out the week.

Reindeer Games! A Preposition Activity!: this activity is on Teachers Pay Teachers and includes 16 different flash cards to fill in with the correct position. Is that candy cane under or behind the gingerbread girl?

Roll-a-Reindeer Preschool Game: It's labeled for preschool, but all of my elementary aged kids love games like this, when used as a therapy reinforcement game. Who can roll a reindeer first?

Polar Express Freebie: Tie activities right into this popular children's book, and then be able to watch the movie afterward. This one is good for January, too.

Santa's stuck: This writing prompt can also be used with the book by the same name. It's a great way to get kids excited about writing when all they're thinking about is Santa.

Christmas Math Freebie - Color by the Code: Use these sheets for independent work as students are arriving and getting settled, or as a center activity, or even for at home fun. Students have to solve the math problem and color by the number of the answer.

Christmas Following Directions Freebie: This activity is designed to help your students practice following directions that are complex or contain 2 steps. There are mats, manipulatives, and following direction cards.

I could easily find even more activities, but with just two short days, this was all I needed to get through with a little bit of learning even with all of the excitement.

Heather H is catching the Christmas cold that is going around her school. I'll be home for Christmas may be literal--because she's sick.
