Good Free App of the Day: Breathe2Relax - portable stress management tool

Feeling stressed? I know I deal with major stress on a daily basis and it can take a toll on your health. Proactively managing your stress can make a big difference and it sets a good example for the little ones in your life. Breath2Relax is a free app from The National Center for Telehealth and Technology designed to teach the stress management tool of diaphragmatic breathing. Watch a video demonstration of the technique and then practice a breathing session. There are tons of options under settings to select (or turn off) visual/audio prompts, cycle settings and stress tracking. General wellness tips can also be found within this app. Breathing exercises can be useful for adults as well as children.

Breathe2Relax is a portable stress management tool which provides detailed information on the effects of stress on the body and instructions and practice exercises to help users learn the stress management skill called diaphragmatic breathing.Breathing exercises have been documented to decrease the body’s ‘fight-or-flight’ (stress) response, and help with mood stabilization, anger control, and anxiety management. Breathe2Relax can be used as a stand-alone stress reduction tool, or can be used in tandem with clinical care directed by a healthcare worker.

Capitalizing on touch-screen technology, a user can record their stress level on a 'visual analogue scale' by simply swiping a small bar to the left or to the right. Breathe2Relax uses state-of-the-art graphics, animation, narration, and videos to deliver a sophisticated, immersive experience for the user.

Sarah's kids took the Constitution test this week. We are all exhaling a sigh of relief that it is over and they did great!
