First Model with Down Syndrome to Walk the Runway at Fashion Week
Many news sources have run articles about this ground breaking moment, but Today's article explains a bit more into why Carrie Hammer is featuring Jamie in her fashion show campaign "Role Models not Runway Models." A friend asked her to include a role model for her daughter, who also is diagnosed with Down Syndrome, and suggested Jamie.
Carrie Hammer has featured other women with disabilities in her fashion shows, but Jamie is the first woman with Down Syndrome to walk the Fashion Week runway. Carrie states that she chose Jamie, not just at the suggestion of her friend, but also because "Jamie is an activist for intellectual
disabilities, she is a writer and artist and amazing actress."
