Problem solving app Smart Steps Mobile helps teens with autism in everyday decisions! FREE!

Screen Shot 2015-07-07 at 11.27.39 PMWow, Smart Steps Mobile is a great find for teens and up! Use the decision tree format to work through problems from a ride being late, being lost, or losing something, plus five more (and more coming soon)! It's totally free to use, but first sign up for a free account on the Smart Steps website. Then download the app and start using to practice working through real-life situations. Smart Steps helps teens and adults to develop independent living and executive function skills, especially in stressful situations.

Get started on increasing independence and safety just by downloading Smart Steps Mobile (FREE, iPhone, x2 iPad):

There are two tiered subscription options available. One, the Decision Tree Maker ($9.99 per month) even allows the user to make their own decision trees to add to the app. The other option costs $4.99 per month, and has slightly different HIPAA compliance benefits, along with allowing contacts (for help when a problem can't be solved) within the app, instead of using the phone's contacts. Check out the plans here: Smart Steps Mobile Plans

From iTunes:
Smartsteps2Need help making easy everyday decisions and tips for taking action? Developed by an educator, Smart Steps supports persons with autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or other cognitive issues to solve problems when in the community going to work, school, or out with friends.

The App User selects a Decision Tree and walks through everyday problems one step at a time. Social skills and safety tips are included. The App User ends up on a "Hurray!" screen or is prompted to "Call for Backup". This provides support for those who are hesitant to solve problems on their own and for those who are hesitant to call for help.

Two levels are available:

1. Go FREE (Decision Trees are free; use phone contacts to call for help)
2. On My Own Plan: Store 'Emergency Contacts' in the app. This allows an agency to store an emergency number in the app which gives the app user quick access to on-duty staff. Contact Smart Steps for more info about this option.

Smartsteps3IMPORTANT: This is for everyday problem solving. It is NOT an emergency response solution.

Additional Decision Trees will be added, so send in ideas! Contact info is on the website.

We know you're busy, and we ease the pressure for everyone involved while offering a new level of support. We think it makes sense and think that you will, too.

Download the app, create 'My Account' on the website, and be sure to check out all of the resources and info on smartsteps4me.com. We're on Facebook and Twitter, too!

Let us know what you think.
